According to Fritz Geiger, riding above the waves in a powerful, personal watercraft is one of the best feelings in the world. There is no substitute; there are only ways to make the experience even more enjoyable.
The basis for the Millsboro man’s company, T-Tops Etc., is to do just that by adding custom tops and accessories to sport and motor boats. Ever since purchasing the business and reopening more than a year ago, Geiger said customers have been lining up to see their boats undergo the total T-top transformation.
Located in the Route 5 Business Center in Harbeson, the new shop houses some of the most cutting-edge technologies in the boat fabrication industry, said Geiger. At the forefront of the product line is the custom T-top, a specially made aluminum frame and covering designed to shelter boaters while housing everything from fishing poles to personal flotation devices.
“We have been told that we build the best tops in Delaware and the neighboring states,” said Geiger. “The reason for that is that each T-top is made from the highest quality 6463 T-66 anodized aluminum and all of our materials are made in the U.S.A.”
Along with his professional staff, Geiger has designed and installed hundreds of the tops that he said make watercrafts more functional and stylish. Not only are outfitted boats better equipped to deal with the elements of the sea, he added, but it also makes them more maneuverable by serving as an organizer for a cluttered haul.
Geiger’s business does not stop there, as he offers installation of other boat necessities such as walk-arounds, half-towers, radar arches, rod holders, leaning posts and bow railings. Polling platforms, ladders and wake board towers are also available.
“The purpose of T-tops Etc. is to serve the full range of marine construction needs for each of our customers,” said Sales Director Scott Hanna, who is the newest addition to the Harbeson staff. “We build anything associated with a marine site, even catwalks and boat lifts.”
Although the T-top shop may not be the largest of venues, it is a well-tooled facility that offers competitive prices and a superior end product, he said.
“We value customer satisfaction above all,” said Geiger, who noted some customers have come from as far as Missouri, with their boats in tow, for the company’s top-notch service.
In fact, it was the blending of quick service and attention to detail that first attracted customer S.T. Moore to T-tops Etc. The Fenwick Island man has taken his boat to Geiger for the last three years. He said that the average turnover time for his boat improvements have been consistently two to four days. He has been so happy with the work that has been done on his boat in the past, that T-tops Etc. is one of the only businesses he lets handle his favorite ride. “I trust Geiger and his staff with my boat,” said Moore. “I always say if you want to get the job done right, you need to go to him.”
