Fish On, located in the Village of Five Points, is having a special Food Chat. In this installment, two chefs from two SoDel Concepts properties, Bryan Muzik and Philip Mastrippolito, will be guiding the chat at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 16.
Muzik is a native of Sussex County. Born and raised in the Bethany/Ocean View area, this 27-year-old’s love for cooking and fishing is a natural fit for award-winning North East Seafood Kitchen in Ocean View. While attending the Culinary Institute of America, a highlight for Muzik was his externship with Chef Victor Scargle of Julia’s Kitchen in Napa, Calif.
He had the privilege of assisting Scargle at the 2005 annual James Beard Awards dinner in New York.
When NorthEast Seafood Kitchen’s executive chef, Phil Mastrippolito, was transferred to new SoDel property Catch 54, Muzik was promoted to executive chef.
Mastrippolito is an award-winning graduate of Delaware Technical & Community College. Before venturing to the beach, he refined his culinary skills at an Italian restaurant in Pennsylvania.
In 2005, he felt a change was in order and decided to travel to southern Delaware where he was quickly introduced to SoDel Concepts. Mastrippolito rapidly moved up the ranks within the corporation. After spending time at North East Seafood Kitchen and Catch 54, he was transferred to Fish On.
Now in its fifth year, Food Chat is a regular event for local and visiting food lovers and amateur chefs, styled as a television cooking show.
SoDel Concepts restaurant group includes Fish On in Lewes Bluecoast in North Bethany, NorthEast Seafood Kitchen in Ocean View, Catch 54 Fish House in Fenwick Island and the recently opened Lupo di Mare Cucina Italiano in downtown Rehoboth.
Food Chat attendees are given the opportunity to ask questions about the purchase, production and presentation of the food. There is no fee to attend and the public is invited.
