When the spacious clubhouse at Nassau Grove community in Lewes was first conceptualized, its designers imagined a venue that would be a hot spot for residents and visitors alike.
The 6,000-square-foot ornately decorated clubhouse more than lived up to its potential, attracting hundreds for a night of gaming fun the evening of March 14.
Hosted by K. Hovnanian Homes, the community celebrated its first Casino Night. Testing their luck on a half dozen blackjack tables, roulette wheels and other entertaining games, visitors got to experience many of the perks the maintenance-free community has to offer.
Situated less than a mile from Route 1, Nassau Grove has attracted buyers with more than just a convenient location, said Nassau Grove Sales Consultant Amy Martin. In fact, the community has been the best seller in Sussex County for two years straight, she said.
“People drive by and see how nice it is here, and tonight they came to see what all of the fuss is about,” said Martin. “By hosting Casino Night, visitors can see the homes here, and they can have fun in the clubhouse; it really is a win-win situation.”
While Martin stated the maintenance-free community has been particularly attractive to out-of-state retirees seeking low property taxes, she also noted a wide range of buyers has been drawn in by the new clubhouse.
The amenities offered at the location include fitness and business centers, cyber café, billiards and card-playing room, outdoor lap-style pool, and walking and jogging trails. Just outside the clubhouse are an island-style full-service tiki bar and a beach-sand volleyball court, Martin said.
Even in the winter, the clubhouse has been known to draw a crowd, said 15-month Nassau Grove resident Carolyn Martinez.
“It’s always easy to meet friends and have fun here, because there is so much going on in the clubhouse,” she said. “Everyone is so pleasant; it was definitely one of the factors for moving to the neighborhood.”
Along with the amenities at Nassau Grove, the custom-built specialty homes have drawn potential buyers from all over, said Sales Manager Jason Farissier. The large market of residents from surrounding states has kept sales figures afloat, he explained, and business has been especially booming in recent months.
“Everyone is talking about a downturn in the market, but we’re not seeing it at Nassau,” he said. “We regularly sell four to five homes a month.”
With housing prices at a low and taxes remaining low as well, people are taking advantage of the perfect time to buy, said Bob Vantrease, K. Hovnanian area president.
Three years ago, homes in the community would have cost anywhere from $500,000 to $700,000, he said, but now, homes are available in the $300,000 to $500,000 range. It may not be that way for long, he stated, because the demand for the homes at Nassau Grove is getting bigger every day.
“So many people are relocating here because affordability is phenomenal,” he said. “The community gives buyers everything that they could want.”
