KINfolk annual wine-tasting
fundraiser set July 22
KINfolk will hold its Fourth Annual Wine Tasting and Art Auction Wednesday, July 22, at Nassau Valley Vineyards in Lewes. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. Among the sponsors are The Bellmoor Inn, Jack Lingo Realtors, Del-Coast Design & Build, Prudential Realty, Community Bank and Lewes Realty. KINfolk is looking to build on last year’s successful event.

Among those donating beautiful auction items this year are Abraxas, Kevin Fleming, Holland Jewelers, Saxon & Wakefield, John-Mark Gleadow and Coastal Frame Shop & Gallery. Kinfolk operates a laptop lending program with free internet accounts for children facing serious medical challenges.

Event Chairwoman Kathy McNamara of Lewes is also a KINfolk board member. She is asking local businesses to sponsor the event.

Already more than 18 fine dining restaurants including Big Fish, Nage, Blue Moon, Go Fish and Victoria’s Restaurant have agreed to contribute signature appetizers this year to create a fabulous appetizer buffet. Nassau Valley will have a fine array of wines to sample and the live auction will again be conducted by Dave Wilson. Aimee Ganster will provide music. Contact McNamara at 645-6971 for tickets or sponsorship opportunities.

KINfolk, a Delaware-based nonprofit, links children and their families to the world outside the hospital by providing laptop computers and online connections for easy and safe access to the internet and to email. These tools provide a powerful link that enables kids and families to learn and stay in touch with classmates, relatives, friends and teachers who sometimes can be hundreds of miles away.

The computers also give those children who are well enough to study the vital tools to do online research, keep up with class assignments and remain active in their academic lives in ways they could not without the help of technology.

KINfolk was founded in 1999 in Georgetown by M. Jane Brady, who was then attorney general of the state of Delaware.
