Free concert features
blues band Sept. 12 in Dover
Class reunions bring a lot of old friends together, and in 2008 one yielded the formation of the Full Circle Blues Band. John Green, a bass guitarist from Camden; Mark Lewis, a drummer from Smyrna; and Lin Doughten, a guitarist from Smyrna, all went to Smyrna High School and played in various bands, but never together.

When they joined forces to create their powerful sound, life for these guys came full circle.

Doughten specializes in a blend of Clapton, B.B. King and Albert Collins with a bit of soul thrown in. Green’s solid funk/blues bass lines meshed with Lewis’s heart-pounding drum rhythm help drive their solid sound.

Joining Full Circle Blues Band for a set of his own is local guitarist Mike Roots, winner of the 2008 Delmarva Friends of Folk Folk Hero Award.

A free concert runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12, on Legislative Mall, so grab a lawn chair or blanket, buy a barbecue lunch from Where Pigs Fly, kick back and enjoy. Concertgoers can watch cyclists ride in from Amish country and cheer them on during the concert.

The concert is part of the Amish Country Bike Tour’s entertainment. The bike tour, suited for all ages and abilities, includes 15-, 25-, 50-, 62- and 100-mile loops through the flatlands of Delaware’s Amish country.
