Caesar Rodney football team
steamrolls past Cape 53-14
Caesar Rodney came into Legends Stadium last Friday night having lost two straight football games by a combined deficit of 58 points.

The Riders, defending Delaware Division I state champions, had fallen to Salesianum 49-20 and Loyola-Blakefield of Baltimore 43-14. The Riders, in spite of the early season successes of Milford and Sussex Tech, are still the team to beat in the Henlopen North until someone takes it away from them.

Cape Henlopen, with 18 seniors graduated from a three-win season in 2008, fielded a defense of young players who were seeing the precision wing-T offense up close for the first time.

The score was 26-0 with 10:47 left in the first half as Malcolm Yowk had three long touchdown runs and fullback Daquan Harris had another. Then the Riders “sort of shut it down” cruising to a 53-14 victory with both Cape scores coming in the second half on the passing combination of Jack McPike to DeWayne Sheppard.

A 21-yard pass just before halftime from Seth McFall to Jordan Henry made the halftime score 33-0.

The Vikings fell to 1-4 on the season and face 4-1 Laurel on the road Friday, Oct. 16. Laurel beat Polytech 28-7 Friday, Oct. 9, as sophomore Chris Jones rushed for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
