Renowned jazz musician to debut ‘Art Solos’ paintings at exhibit

Nassau Valley Vineyard will host Bernard Sweetney’s Art Solos show at the winery during October. The vineyards will present a meet-the-artist musical performance and reception from 1-3 pm., Sunday, Oct. 18.

Sweetney is a master percussionist and vibraphonist (xylophone). With a B.S. from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and M.A. from Howard University, Bernard’s foundations were in visual art. Since 1970, he has been devoted full time to the study and presentation of music.
He has toured throughout the United States, Europe and Africa performing with his own group and with many performing artists, including Roberta Flack, Shirley Horn, Jimmy Smith, Richie Cole, Eddie Jefferson, Milt Jackson, Andrew White and Marshall Hawkins.
He is a former teacher in Delaware public schools and for various federally funded music and arts programs. He is a multitalented performer who presents a musical style that provides easy listening pleasure, enjoyable and entertaining to a broad variety of audiences.
Aside from his percussive prowess on drums and vibes, his other instruments include piano, bass, flute, trumpet, saxophone, guitar and bass.
Nassau Valley Vineyard is located six miles north of Rehoboth, just outside downtown Lewes.
