| Delaware Seashore State Park features miles of undeveloped Atlantic Ocean beach and through its beachcombing programs offers an opportunity for visitors and area residents to stroll the shore with a naturalist to see and discuss life in the beach environment.
The public is invited to join parks staff for a “leave no trace” beachcombing session at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 22
Before venturing onto the beach, participants will discuss the importance of ocean beaches and view sample specimens of shells and other natural items commonly found on Mid-Atlantic beaches.
Then the group will take a stroll along the sands with a Delaware State Park naturalist taking frequent stops to discuss what items are found. In an effort to protect natural resources, participants will not be allowed to remove items found during this program.
The cost for this program is $3 per person and participants are encouraged to dress for the weather of the day. Participants should be aware that due to the recent storm damage, access to and from the beach may be exceptionally challenging and require considerable physical effort.
This program will meet at the Indian River Life-Saving Station Museum in Delaware Seashore State Park on Route 1 south of Dewey Beach and north of the Indian River Inlet.
