Students participate
in CHEER fundraiser
For the eighth consecutive year, the Sussex Tech Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Raven Battalion participated in the annual CHEER Beach Day Power Walk to help Sussex County’s senior citizens.

Although Beach Day was held in September, the students could not do their walk on the Rehoboth Beach Roardwalk until Nov. 2, which was an in-service day at the school. Wind and misty rain did not deter 55 cadets who were joined by 26 Sussex Tech Honor Society members from giving up their day off from school to fulfill their commitment to their Power Walk sponsors. The Raven Battalion raised $5,151 for CHEER and the honor society collected $985.

The Raven Battalion squad received awards for most walkers and for most donations. Top money getter was Cadet Shane Lynch of Milton who received an award from CHEER Assistant Director Ken Bock for collecting $545. Second runner-up for most money collected, $459, was awarded to Cadet Virginia Griffin of Milford who also received an award from Bock.

After the walk, all the students were treated to a pizza lunch courtesy of Grotto Pizza.
