Jazz musician Baione to play at
fundraiser Nov. 21 at Killens Pond
Professional vibraphonist Joe Baione and his Jazz Trio will entertain at An Evening Under the Stars planned for Saturday, Nov. 21, in the Killens Pond State Park Nature Center on Killens Pond Road near Felton. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; the evening’s program is planned for 6 to 9 p.m.

Baione, a Delaware native, is the youngest member of a musical family that includes his parents and two older brothers. After graduating from the University of Maryland in 1995 he went on to establish himself as both a performer and an educator. By day, he is a band teacher who brings his passion for jazz and blues to young people in the Lake Forest School District. Baione’s friendship with Benny Golson enabled him to bring the jazz legend to Delaware to work with his students.

By night, Baione is a professional jazz musician whose cool performances have taken him to prestigious events such as the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival in Montego Bay. Closer to home, he performs in the Cape May Jazz Festival and the Rehoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Festival. He also serves as president of Delaware Charitable Music Inc., an organization which promotes music in schools.

The music of the Joe Baione Trio will complement an evening that will also feature a barbecue dinner, silent and live auctions and the opportunity to enjoy it all overlooking Killens Pond from the new nature center. Proceeds from the evening, will benefit the Lake Forest Community Education Fund.

Tickets for An Evening Under the Stars are $25; they may be reserved by calling Mary Voshell at 302-284-3230.
