Lewes businesses moving
for Wescoats development
Four Lewes businesses are relocating temporarily while developers build a new Walgreens shopping center.

Lewes Print Shop, Fehrenbach’s Flooring Plus, Stevenson Brothers Hardwood Floors and Gossamer Hawk will move to a building behind their current offices on Savannah Road, next to Delaware Rental and across from Happy Harry’s/Walgreens. The shops will hold regular hours during the redevelopment.

Fehrenbach employee Blythe McManus said she’s impressed by the quality of the arrangements.

“It looks good,” she said of Fehrenbach’s temporary home. “These are going to be nice, finished spaces. The customers are going to have a seamless experience.”

Owner Mike Fehrenbach said his business will move into unit 2 of the long, squat temporary structure. Lewes Print Shop will occupy unit 3.

Fehrenbach said the relocation will last between five and six months.

Dave McManus, owner of Gossamer Hawk, said pharmaceutical chain Walgreens bought the commercial tract on Wescoats Corner and plans to build what he described as a Walgreens superstore.

Walgreens Media Relations Manager Tiffany Washington was unavailable for comment.

Josh Stevenson of Stevenson Brothers said the eventual commercial space will be an upgrade for the flooring company.

“We’re going to be getting a new retail space,” he said. “That’ll be a step up.”
