Rehoboth Beach-based SoDel Concepts and its hospitality management arm, Highwater Management, will present a free showing of the film “One Crazy Ride” at 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20, in the upstairs screening room at Movies at Midway, located in the Midway Shopping Center.
The movie tells the story of five motorcyclists on a road trip through one of India’s most primitive, isolated and yet beautiful areas.
The movie’s director is Gaurav Jani, brother of local internist Dr. Uday Jani. A fashion choreographer-turned-filmmaker, Gaurav Jani worked on the film “Jungle,” after which he bought a motorcycle and took to the road, doing odd jobs to finance his travels. He also founded a motorcycle club, 60kph (60kph.com).
To combine his passions, Jani decided to shoot a travelogue, “Riding Solo to the Top of the World,” about five bikers on a two-year motorcycle trip through India with no crew or support vehicles.
“Once Crazy Ride” expands on the theme. “If you’re a traveler or a motorcycle rider, you will love this movie,” says Matt Haley, owner of SoDel Concepts, who first learned about the film from Dr. Uday Jani.
The film has been shown at the Mill Valley Film Festival in San Rafael, Calif.; the Flagstaff Film Festival in Arizona, where it won the Jury Award; and the Himalayan Film Festival in Amsterdam.
