Jack Tarburton, the Delaware and Maryland state director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development, will be the featured speaker at the Friends of Agriculture Breakfast to be held Friday, Nov. 20, in Dover.
Tarburton will speak about the many facets of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development program. For more than 70 years – and under several different names – the Rural Development program has served rural areas of the United States with financial and technical assistance to improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.
“From assistance to Latino-owned businesses to supporting the construction of a volunteer fire station in a rural community, the USDA Rural Development Program can boast of many success stories here in Delaware,” says Dr. Jan Seitz, associate dean and director of the University of Delaware’s Cooperative Extension program. “I’m looking forward to Jack’s update about this important program.”
The Friends of Agriculture Breakfast will be held at the Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forest Ave. in Dover beginning at 7:15 a.m. Registration is $20.
