Michael Shockley joins
United Way of Delaware
United Way of Delaware has announced Michael Shockley has joined the organization as community relations associate in Sussex County. Shockley will focus on building and maintaining relationships throughout Sussex County.

Shockley’s key responsibilities are to create and maintain relationships with United Way of Delaware’s various partners and agencies to build awareness of the organization’s “Give, Advocate, Volunteer” message.

A former sales employee at Delaware Coast Press/The Wave newspapers in Rehoboth Beach, Shockley brings significant knowledge of the community and an understanding of the opportunities for United Way to expand its profile and develop local resources. He resides in Ocean View, where he and wife Mary are the parents of infant son Levi and daughter Camryn.

United Way of Delaware is Delaware’s largest and oldest nonprofit fundraising organization. One of only two statewide United Ways in America, its mission is to maximize the community’s resources to improve the quality of life for Delawareans. United Way funds more than 115 social-service programs in New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties, thanks to the generous support of individual and corporate donors, foundation grants and other gifts.

In addition to funding a network of crisis alleviation, United Way Delaware is engaged in a long-term strategy to eliminate the root causes of the most pressing social-service problems. The organization leads collaborative efforts to help children and youth achieve their potential, promote financial stability and independence, and improve health.
