Gallery 50 to co-sponsor Feb. 18
trip to Walters Museum in Baltimore
Coastal Connection, a service of Gallery 50 in Rehoboth Beach and Graphics By The Sea in Lewes, will travel Thursday, Feb. 18, to Baltimore, Md., to tour the Walters Museum. The deadline for registration is Monday, Feb 15. The Walters Museum is internationally renowned for its collection of art.

The collection presents an overview of world art from pre-dynastic Egypt to 20th century Europe, and counts among its many treasures Greek sculpture and Roman sarcophagi; medieval ivories and old masters paintings; Art Deco jewelry and 19th century European and American masterpieces.

The trip will depart Rehoboth Beach from Gallery 50 at 8:30 a.m. and will return at approximately 6 p.m. that evening.

The trip will include a docent tour of the special exhibit Beauty and the Brain: A Neural Approach to Aesthetics, a collaboration between the Walters Art Museum and the Zanvyl Krieger Mind-Brain Institute at The Johns Hopkins University.

The cost of the trip is $65, which includes total transportation costs, a light breakfast served at the gallery and the docent-led tour.

“The response to these trips has been amazing,” said gallery owner Jay Pastore. “Our last trip to The Barnes Foundation in Merion, Pa., was sold out. We have had many repeat travelers, which has led to a more enriched interactive experience.”

Early registration is suggested as seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, including links to the registration form, go to the link on the bottom of the home page on the gallery’s website, 50contemporaryart.com, or call the gallery at 302-227-2050. The gallery is located at 50 Wilmington Ave. in Rehoboth Beach and is closed Tuesday-Thursday.
