| When Georgetown title searcher Susan Schening noticed a cat outside her office Jan. 26, she thought it unusual.
On The Circle near the Sussex County Administration Building, she said stray animals are rarely seen. “He just looked horrible,” said Schening.
So she called the SPCA, who responded, but they were unable to locate the wandering, black-and-white cat. By Jan. 28, Schening was able to coax the cat into an animal carrier.
Then, she delivered the lost cat to veterinarian Jamie Weiss, who stitched up a 2-inch gash around its entire body. Schening thinks maybe the cat somehow ended up in Georgetown and climbed into the engine of a parked car.
Perhaps, when the driver started the vehicle, a fan blade cut the animal, she said.
The male cat does not seem to have any internal injuries, she said. With its owners nowhere to be found, Schening took the cat to her Milton home to recover, where the upbeat animal remains.
“He’s just as friendly as he can be. But he’s someone’s pet. He definitely belongs to somebody,” said Schening.
Anyone with any information or questions, or anyone who might want to adopt this nice kitty, is urged to contact Schening at 302-855-7788 or 684-1615.
