Summer camp to take over Milton Theatre July 5
Both children and adults go to camp at the historic Milton Theatre, and applications are still being accepted.

Martha Pfeiffer, a Mariner Middle School educator, takes on the morning session Monday-Friday, July 5-9, as she coaches middle school and high school students in musical theatre singing, acting and dancing skills.

Dr. Paul Pfeiffer, artistic director at Salisbury University Theatre, has opened up his afternoon class during the same week to both teenage and adult students as they challenge their acting skills by learning the monologues of Shakespeare.

The Milton Theatre quickly embraced Jan Layden, a dance and acting teacher and musical theatre performer, who teaches the 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. elementary school session Monday-Friday, July 12-16. Layden shared her talents with the students of Shields Elementary School in a participatory assembly which resulted in many children getting excited about the performing arts and signing up for camp.

She is also presenting a unique program for children ages 4 through 7 during the week of July 26. Camp comes to an exciting close as David Warick, artistic director of Delaware Comedy Theatre, leads a class of improvisational games and techniques for students of all ages during the afternoon session in the last week of July.

Current president of the board and programming liaison Ellen Passman said, “The Milton Theatre is building bridges to provide a wide range of programs for both children and adults. We encourage people to participate when they come to the Milton Theatre, everything from ‘Best in Summer Shorts,’ our fourth annual amateur video contest, created and chaired by board member Libby Zando, to summer camp, to the baby boomers dancing in the aisles at the Memorial Day weekend doo wop show.

Even camp is ending with a live performance on Saturday, July 31, by the Delaware Comedy Theatre with guest appearances by the students.” For more information and an application go to miltontheatre.org
