Renewable energy fair comes to
Rehoboth Beach Saturday, Aug. 7
Green businesses offer goods, services
Recycle that old computer and learn about the environmentally friendly home and energy options available from area retailers at Clean Energy USA’s third annual Renewable Energy Fair.

Free to the public, the Saturday, Aug. 7 event will be held at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The 30 vendors offer services including solar-fueled attic fans, a car-cleaning service, pest control and hybrid cars, said Lyn Mox of Clean Energy USA. Other green gadgets include solar-powered phone and MP3 player chargers, Mox said.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the local Surfrider Foundation chapters, she said.

Computer business FastTeks will take old computers, monitors and other hardware during the event and recycle or dispose of them properly, said Mox.

Clean Energy USA specializes in solar panels and wind turbines for homes and businesses, said Mox. The company began the Renewable Energy Fair as a way to help area businesses learn about each other’s specialties, she said. “It’s a community process. We’re trying to get like-minded people together for business networking and education,” she said.

More vendors at the fair include a builder who constructs zero-energy homes, a home-energy auditor, and producers of energy-efficient window blinds, solar shades and awnings. Last year, 20 vendors participated in the event, said Mox. Health-supplement businesses and a green-roof company have also signed up to attend, she said.

Bluewater Wind will also be on hand to discuss offshore wind power.
