The Irvin/Christopher Duo will perform on organ and violin at 12:15 p.m., Thursday, July 29, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach. David Christopher and Andrew Irvin have been exploring the highly accessible body of music written for violin and organ as well as creating their own transcriptions from the orchestral and vocal repertoire.
Performing frequently throughout the United States, their concerts include a wide range of music for violin and organ from baroque to contemporary, with an emphasis on duets from the romantic repertoire and orchestral transcriptions for violin and organ as well as violin and harpsichord.
Irvin has a broad range of experience in concerts and recitals across America and in Europe. Currently living in Little Rock, Ark., and serving as the co-concertmaster of the Arkansas Symphony, Irvin has been principal violin in the Arizona Opera Orchestra and made his European debut at the Heidelberg Schlossfestspiele where he was principal violin in the festival orchestra and was featured on the chamber concert series. In the Rochester, N.Y.-based orchestra Air de Cour he served as concertmaster, leader and soloist.
A student of the late Dr. Robert Elmore, Christopher has been performing as an organ recitalist since the age of 14. Having held a number of distinctive organ positions in the Philadelphia and Wilmington areas, Christopher has served as the organist and director of music for The Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew in Wilmington since April 2001. Known as a gifted accompanist, he is often called on to collaborate with singers and instrumentalists in recital as well as in chamber music programs.
There is no charge to attend the concert; however a free-will offering will be taken. Call 302-227-7202 for details.
