“Pooches in the Park” Returns to Lewes on May 18

One of the most unique events in the Cape region, “Pooches in the Park”, returns to Lewes Canalfront Park on Saturday, May 18 from 1 to 3 pm for its 7th year of fun. The park in located at 211 Front Street on the banks of the Lewes-Rehoboth canal in Historic Lewes.

This free, festive event caters to both 2-legged and 4-legged family members, featuring fun, creative and informative activities for dogs and those who love them! Attractions include interactive training, agility, behavioral and obedience demonstrations that attendees may observe or participate in with experts in their field. Other fun offerings include pet portraits, CPR and first-aid instruction, games and prizes and visiting over 20 specialized exhibitors. And pups receive goodies to take home to enjoy with their humans!

Nationally-recognized, crowd-pleasing dock diving dogs will be launching off the recently refurbished floating docks at the park. Law enforcement K-9 units from across Delaware return to showcase the skills of both handlers and their canine partners in awe-inspiring maneuvers.

Pooches should be on max. 6-8 ft. non-retractable leash. One dog per handler is requested. This “fetching” event is free thanks to the support of Savannah Animal Hospital, The Cape Gazette, Gateway Subaru, Jack Lingo Realtor, PetSmart, Only Natural Pet, PUPS Pet Shop of Lewes, the Issel family, the Tugend/Fischbach family and Friends of Lewes Canalfront Park. Bring the entire family to join the festivities on Saturday May 18 in beautiful Lewes Canalfront Park. Should bad weather on May 18 force postponement, a rain date of June 1 has been set.
