After the dreary winter we’ve had it’s understandable that many of us are just bursting at the seams to get outside and enjoy the seasonable weather that’s finally arrived. But in addition to this being a time of year when we can finally be free of winter jackets, hats, and more, it’s also a time of year we like to call spring cleaning season!

And when it comes to spring cleaning, many of us have a hard time getting started. But it doesn’t have to be that way! We always like to recommend starting slow and doing double duty with tasks you would otherwise be doing.  Take, for example, the process of transitioning your wardrobe from winter layers to summer duds - why not do a little closet decluttering in the process?

We talked to Cindy Wooleyhan, of Delaware Beaches Professional Organizers, and got a lot of great advice on some easy ways to tackle closet decluttering.  She lists 5 clothing staples that provide the best place to start:

  1. Sweaters
  2. Pants and jeans
  3. T-shirts
  4. Dresses and skirts
  5. Shoes
