Michele Buckler - owner of Sand N Stones, now in their 14th year, located at 112B Front Street in downtown Lewes - knows sea glass, and Delaware Diamonds, and semi-precious stones – in fact, Michele knows quite a bit about many of the natural treasures that wash up on the shores of Delmarva.

She has spent most of her lifetime collecting the items beginning as a child walking along the shores with her mother and gathering the sparkling finds. As an adult, she transformed her passion into artistry when she began designing exquisite wire-wrapped Jewelery to showcase the pieces into treasured keepsakes in the form of pendants, pins, earrings, and rings.Larimar Pendant

Her slogan is “Mother Nature Does The Artwork, I Put A Frame Around It!”. And while Michele is well known for her knowledge of sea glass, that’s just the beginning.

Her Jewelery also features wire wrapped special gemstones, coins, beach stones, broken fine bone china or pottery, arrowheads, Delaware Bay Diamonds (A.K.A. Cape May Diamond), glass shards, vintage buttons, marbles, Swarovski Crystals, beads, or almost anything that you already own. She will also be glad to put a new look to an old piece of jewelry.

In fact, many of her clients bring small items to her to have them customized into one of her stunning creations. “Often, over the years,” she said, “pieces of, for example, wedding china, will get lost or broken dwindling down to a few items. I can take a shard of a plate, saucer or teacup and create a wonderful pendant from it. It’s a great way for the wearer to honor that past and reconnect to those happy family memories.”

The result of her artistry is a custom piece of jewelry with its own unique story and emotional connection that is meant to be worn and loved for generations. In most cases, Michele can wire wrap it for clients while they are out and about enjoying their day in Lewes, Delaware.

PuzzleBesides her wire framed jewelry, Michele is also known for her beautiful photography. Michele has been interested in photography since she was in high school beginning as an artistic experience that she and her father shared together. As a modern-day renaissance woman and artisan, it was a natural fit for Michele to include some of her local interest photographs on cards and prints in her shop.

In fact, as she discussed on camera with The Arts & Entertainment Report Host Michael Sprouse, she was recently commissioned by locally owned Puzzles and the Overfalls Foundation Lewes to provide a photograph of the Lightship Overfalls for an exclusive jigsaw puzzle celebrating the 80th anniversary of the lightship. The puzzle is available for purchase from both Puzzles and the Overfalls Foundation Gift Shop, located next to the Lightship.

Buckler donated her photograph for use on the puzzle, as well as her puzzle royalty, to the foundation, and she also has postcards, greeting cards and prints available of the image in her store on Front Street.

Sand N Stones also carries Delaware History books and nature resource guides, “Living The Lewes Life“® and Lewes Insignia© merchandise, Sandy Delaware Ornaments, Sergio Lub bracelets, Delaware souvenirs, gifts, and mementos. Michele says that her "Ideal Customer" are those who enjoy wearing one-of-a-kind custom artisan’s jewelry.

Michele enjoys having her store in a beautiful small beach town enriched with lots of nature and history and loves the creativity of handmade jewelry designers which is reflected in the merchandise in her store and on her website, which can be found at www.sandnstones.com
