Attention Book Lovers! “Beach Life” Launch Party At Browseabout Books!

November 11, 2017

One of the annually best-attended events of the year at Browseabout Books (located at 133 Rehoboth Avenue in downtown Rehoboth Beach) will take place this Sunday (Nov. 12th) from 2 to 4 PM when local publishing company Cat And Mouse Press hosts the official Launch Party and Book Signing for the recently released Beach Life.

Beach Life is the fifth book in the continuing Rehoboth Read Series published by Cat and Mouse Press. 25 short stories were selected by the judges for this year’s edition which were chosen from a record breaking 145 submittals. Arts & Entertainment Report Host Michael Sprouse spoke with Cat And Mouse Press owner Nancy Sakaduski for some insight into this year’s event.

MS: Congratulations Nancy on another successful publication! Tell me, how many authors to you expect to be on hand for the Launch Party and what’s your favorite aspect of it?

ND:  Many, if not most, of the winning authors will be on hand this Sunday. I think my favorite part of the launch party is the sense of excitement! Because, for a lot of authors, this might be the first time that they’ve had anything published. Even experienced writers that may have gotten into the book are excited because it’s a contest and they’ve won a place in Beach Life. The book is just out, and everybody is excited to be part of it. There’s always a huge crowd of people. There’s raffles, cake, prizes, refreshments –  there really is a big sense of excitement to the event!

MS: For someone who is interested in exploring the idea of writing for themselves, would this be a good event to attend?

ND: Yes, because it’s an opportunity for them to talk to the authors, and some of the judges who are often there, to get a sense for - if they were thinking about entering the contest for next year - what are the kinds of stories that tend to be selected. This is a chance for people to talk to them in person and ask questions.

MS: Would you say then that this is a good networking opportunity for writers?

ND: I would. I think that because not only are all the writers there, the judges are there, the illustrator is there, other writers are there who come to support the event. There are a lot of different kinds of people who show up. One year, we even had the Vice President show up! So, you never know who may show up at the Launch Party.

Whether you’re a writer, a collector of the Rehoboth Read series, an avid reader, or just looking for a fun and free arts event, then the Beach Life Launch Party and Book Signing may just be the perfect event for you to attend!
