Bayhealth to Offer IV and Infusion Therapy Training to Healthcare Professionals

October 8, 2018

As part of a multidisciplinary team effort, Bayhealth, Exceptional Care for Children and state agencies within the State of Delaware designed a Community Health Education program to provide education on central venous access devices.

Bayhealth will facilitate and launch this educational opportunity for nurses in long term care, assisted living, home health care, hospice, and outpatient care settings. The IV & Infusion Therapy course will be held on Nov. 14, 2018 from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. at Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus in Pavilion 2. Free parking is available in the parking garage.

Recent statistics show that the use of central venous access devices has been increasing outside the traditional hospital setting. The multidisciplinary team developed this course to reduce implications and empower healthcare professionals with proper tools needed to provide best practice in the care of central venous access devices.

The goal of this class is to provide basic education of IV and infusion therapy. It will also help keep Delawareans in their respective communities while receiving treatment and provide valuable resources to healthcare professionals.

The cost for this IV Therapy & Infusion Therapy course is $75 which includes supplies and policy guidelines. In addition, 3 nursing contact hours will be offered for this program.

Call 302-744-7135 to register for the course. For more information, contact Bayhealth Senior Nurse Manager for Dialysis, Vascular Access, and Medical Infusions Gina Collins, MSN, RN, VA-BC at 302-744-7324.
