The community is invited to visit Grotto Pizza in Seaford this holiday season to view the beautiful parade of trees that decorate the restaurant in support of local charities. One of the trees featured is the Charlie Brown Tree decorated by the students of St. John’s Preschool. All proceeds collected from the Charlie Brown Tree will support the Pegeen and Samantha Brown Pediatric Fund at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.

The Pegeen and Samantha Brown Pediatric Fund was established in memory of two special ladies in the community who were passionate about children. Samantha Brown, daughter of Tom and Pegeen Brown, was tragically killed in a car crash in January 2007, and Pegeen Brown passed away suddenly a month later. Pegeen was a kindergarten teacher at Woodbridge Elementary School and truly loved all children. Samantha was an active volunteer at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. This fund benefits the pediatric area in the emergency room at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, which is designed to make children feel comfortable in the event that a visit to the hospital is needed.

St. John’s Preschool is proud to sponsor the Charlie Brown Tree in support of this fund. We encourage the community to participate by dropping in a few dollars this holiday season when you visit Grotto Pizza in Seaford. On the last day of the parade – January 1 – all monetary donations will be counted and forwarded to the sponsor. The tree that collects the most charitable contributions will win an additional $250 for their charity, donated by Grotto Pizza. What a great way to begin the spirit of goodwill this holiday season!

If you are unable to visit Grotto Pizza, but would like to make a donation to the Charlie Brown Tree, the elves at the Nanticoke Health Foundation can help deliver your contributions. Please send your donation and make the checks payable to:
