Coastal Holiday Events, Ocean City Comic Con Planned For This Weekend

With less than three weeks now until Christmas, weekend events in the coastal region continue to be dominated by those with a holiday theme. And there's certainly a lot still to do between now and December 25 at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

Before we tell you specifically what's on tap for the weekend of December 7-9 in the coastal region, however, we would like to refer you to a blog we wrote a couple of weeks ago that includes a full rundown of things happening during the month of December at and near the beaches.

DECEMBER 2018 HOLIDAY EVENTS IN THE COASTAL REGION

Also this weekend is the second installment of Bethany Beach's Weekend Wonderland, which is being held every Saturday between now and Christmas Day. We covered this month-long event in last week's blog entry, so we're not going to go over it again this week.

Okay, on to more of what's happening over the next few days here in the coastal region.

Here are our top choices for fun and family-friendly things to do for the weekend of December 7-9:

Milton Holly Festival (December 8). This is the 29th year for this unique festival in Milton, which celebrates the town's storied past as one of the top holly producers in the United States.

Always held on the second Saturday of December, dozens of craft vendors are again expected at various venues around the historic town, including the Milton Volunteer Fire Department, the Milton Public Library and Goshen Hall.

The main theme of the event is, of course, centered around holly and holly-centric creations. But Santa Claus will also be making an appearance for the little ones, and other festive events are also planned.

Milford Holiday Stroll (December 7). This 13th annual event event is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. this Friday, December 7, in downtown Milford.

Costumed holiday carolers will be strolling through the city for the event, which also includes live holiday music, carriage rides, an appearance of the Delmarva Miniature Horse Club and much more. Santa's House will be open for the kids, and several downtown businesses will be decorating their windows for the holiday season.

Scheduled entertainers and carolers include barbershop quarters, bands, members of the Music School of Delaware, and even dance performances by the First State Dance Academy.

Victorian Christmas 2018 (December 7-9). For a look at how Christmas was celebrated in centuries past, take a drive west to the city of Seaford this weekend and visit the former home of Delaware Gov. William Henry Harrison Ross.

The Seaford Historical Society once again hosts the city's Victorian Christmas, with events planned for three days this weekend. Scheduled activities and events include candlelight mansion tours, "Caroling in the Stable," a "Secret Santa Shop" and much more.

Hours for the event are Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m., and on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
