Early November Highlighted by Fall Festivals in Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach and Oak Orchard

October 30, 2019

Welcome to November everyone! We begin our transition from the fall festival season into the 2019 holiday season this week, but first there are a couple more big events to tell you about.

Keep reading below for much more on the 11-day Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival, as well as more events spread throughout the coastal region.

And be sure to keep reading our “Weekender” Blog every week to stay in the know about everything that’s on the calendar at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

Okay, so let’s jump right into the six events we’re featuring for you this week. We begin in the “Nation’s Summer Capital” with an event that now spans more than two decades…

Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival (October 31 – November 10). This festival founded by the Rehoboth Beach Film Society has become one of the most popular in the region in recent years, with ticket sales reaching 20,000 or more annually.

It’s now in its 22nd year and is scheduled in 2019 for 11 days, from October 31 through November 10.

The festival showcases around 100 of the best independent films, including features, documentaries and shorts, and also offers informative seminars, opportunities to converse with celebrity guests and special events.

The event is held at the Cinema Art Theater, Cape Henlopen High School and at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Route 9.

Wizards and Witches Festival (November 1-3). A new addition to the Fall Festival Season this year is this Halloween themed event in downtown Bethany Beach.

Hosted by Bethany Beach Books, this three day festival celebrates Bethany’s locally owned businesses and is part of the “Shop Local” movement.

Magic, creativity and Halloween themed characters will all be a part of this event, with attendees urged and encouraged to wear costumes for the event.

Activities include a scavenger hunt, a Herbology Wizard Garden, a pumpkin paint night and much more.

More information on this inaugural event can be found here.

Delaware Resorts 55+ Expo (November 2). This fourth annual event is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, at Cape Henlopen High School and will focus on residents age 55 and above. Exhibitors include medical services, home health care agencies, physical fitness programs, residential communities and home service companies.

Medical representatives will also be on site providing health screening and evaluations. There will also be food trucks on hand, and gifts and prizes will be given out throughout the day.

This event includes both free admission and free parking. All proceeds from the 2019 Delaware Resorts 55+ Expo will be used to benefit Meals on Wheels Delaware.
