Friends of the Lewes Canalfront Park with the support of Citizen's Bank are proud to present the classic family film “Hairspray”. The movie is free and open to the public and will be shown at dusk in beautiful Lewes Canalfront Park.
It's 1962 and teenagers Tracy Turnblad and her friend Penny Pingleton are avid fans of The Corny Collins Show, a hit teen dance TV show in their hometown of Baltimore. When the chance to dance on the show is publicized, Tracy jumps on the opportunity. Not only does her dancing skills attract Corny Collins, but also the attention of teen heartthrob, the show's star Link Larkin. But not everyone is happy with Tracy's joining the show. The station manager, Velma von Tussle, who has ensured that her daughter Amber is the featured dancer, will do anything to oust Tracy, Adding to the dynamic is that the program is segregated, featuring only white dancers except for once a month, and Tracy knowing that's not fair enlists the help of her friends and parents to integrate the show.The 2007 release of Hairspray includes an all-star ensemble cast including John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Michele Pfeiffer, Queen Latifah, Zac Ephron and Nikki Blonsky in her film debut as Tracy.
