Have A Spooky Good Time This Halloween in the Coastal Region

October 19, 2018

It’s that time of year when scary clowns pop out from behind trees, bloodthirsty zombies roam the streets at night searching for brains and insane woodsmen chase young people through the woods with chain saws.

Yup, it's Halloween time and we have some great attractions to tell you about here in the coastal region.

But before we do that, we'd like to briefly mention Screams at the Beach. Located between Georgetown and Lewes on Route 9, this popular local event did not return for 2018, and we couldn't be sadder about it.

Profiled just last year by the Oldfather Group, "Screams" has been a local favorite for a long time, but an agreement just couldn't be reached that would have allowed the award-winning haunted event to return for another year.

We'll miss it, and can only hope that something will arise in the near future that will fill the void it's leaving.

But in the meantime, we still have some great Halloween events coming up at the Delaware and Maryland beaches. So let's get right to it, shall we?

Milton Zombie Fest (Oct. 20). This unique festival in Milton is now in its fourth year and will feature several fun-filled activities at various locations throughout town.

The event is scheduled for 12 to 10 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 20, and includes bands, food trucks, beer tents, vendors, street performers and much more.

Then at 8 p.m., you don't want to miss the annual "zombie walk," which is one of the highlights of the annual festival in downtown Milton.

All proceeds from the 2018 festival will benefit the Milton Theatre, The Milton Historical Society, The Milton Fire Department and Casa San Francisco.

Tickets for the 2018 Milton Zombie Fest events are available online HERE or by calling 302-684-3038.

Nightmares Haunted House (Laurel). This site in Laurel was voted the top overall attraction in 2015 by DelawareHauntedHouses.com and is back in 2018 for another season of terrifyingly spooky entertainment.

Open every Friday and Saturday in October beginning at 7 p.m., as well as Halloween Night, organizers promise attendees will be “scared like you never have been before.” It’s not recommended, however, for children under the age of 7, so parents please take notice.

Ocean City Screams (Ocean City). Now in it's third year, this haunted house attraction in Ocean City promises the “biggest, scariest, most intense, state-of-the-art haunted house ever built in Ocean City.”

This two-story attraction models an old rusted out cargo ship that reportedly went missing more than 50 years ago and today haunts the Maryland seaside resort.

If you feel like touring a “ghost ship” teeming with afterlife, paranormal activity and strange members of the crew who survived the historic crash, then Ocean City Screams awaits.

A word of caution though – this attraction can get pretty intense and is not recommended for children under the age of 13.

The final five days of Ocean City Screams for 2018 are Oct. 19, Oct. 20, Oct. 26, Oct. 27 and Oct. 31. Visit www.ocscreams.com for more information.
