Highly Anticipated Music Festivals Rock Dover, Ocean City During the Weekend of June 21-23

June 19, 2019

If you like music, there’s no better time to be in Delaware and Maryland’s coastal region than over the next few days. Both Dover and Ocean City are hosting huge, multi-day music festivals that are sure to draw record numbers of people to the area between June 21 and 23

This weekend marks the eighth anniversary of the insanely popular Firefly Music Festival at Dover Downs International Speedway, as well as the inaugural foray of Ocean City into the outdoor music scene, with the highly anticipated Jellyfish Music Festival.

And back at the Delaware beaches, the 2019 Sea Glass and Coastal Arts Festival will be taking center stage over the next few days at the Lewes Ferry Terminal.

Here are the Oldfather Group’s top choices for area festivals and events for the extended weekend of June 21-23 at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

Sea Glass and Coastal Arts Festival (June 22-23). This year marks the 10th anniversary for this popular show once held at the Lewes Historical Society complex downtown, but now at the more spacious Lewes Ferry Terminal.

The 2019 festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $5 per person each day, with children 12 and under admitted for free.

Nearly 70 sea glass artists, along with decoy carvers, waterfowl artists and more, will be attending this year’s festival, from locations all along the east coast and even one from the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Other activities include live music, food vendors, free sea glass appraisals and discussions on the history of this unique form of art.

Jellyfish Music Festival (June 21-23). Building on the success of several other popular music festivals in the area, the inaugural Jellyfish Music Festival will be held this weekend in downtown Ocean City.

The main stage will be right off the city’s famed Boardwalk, just north of the pier, with the festival stretching all the way to North Division Street.

The scheduled dates and times of the Ocean City Jellyfish Festival are Friday and Saturday, June 21 and 22, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., and Sunday, June 23, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.

In addition to three days and nights of regional and national music acts, there will also be a five block area filled with family-friendly activities, including a fitness challenge, a bicycle zone, another music stage and several vendors.

Featured acts for the 2019 festival include Styx, Crack the Sky, Badfish and Crowder.

Firefly Music Festival (June 21-23). Now in its eighth year, the Firefly Music Festival returns to Dover Downs International Speedway this weekend for another year of top national bands and three days (that’s right, three days not four this year) of good times and great music.

Headlining acts for 2019 include “Panic! At The Disco,” “Travis Scott,” “Post Malone,” “Tyler, The Creator” and “Vampire Weekend.”

Firefly is now the largest music and camping festival on the east coast of the United States, with huge crowds again expected for the three days of the event this year.

The festival includes seven stages; the Porch Stage, the Lawn Stage, the Backyard Stage, the Treehouse, the Coffee House, the Pavilion and the Firefly Stage. There are three different options for passes and tickets, including general admission, VIP and Super VIP.
