History Happened Here Cruise

Step back into Lewes's maritime past as you step onto Cape Water Tour’s Discovery this summer for a history cruise on the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. With narration from a knowledgeable Lewes Historical Society guide, you’ll hear fascinating tales of the explorers who first put Cape Henlopen on the map and of the pirates that sailed the very same waters you're traveling upon. You’ll learn how difficult - and dangerous - it could be to navigate the Cape's sometimes treacherously shallow waters, and view lighthouses that have assisted in guiding ships, visitors, and cargo through the area for generations. You’ll learn about the brave and daring United States Life-Saving Servicemen who rescued victims from perilous shipwrecks, and about the role of the Delaware Bay River Pilots Association.

This 90 minute tour takes place on Monday and Thursday afternoons at 3:30pm from Harbour Marina at the very end of Anglers Road, just past Irish Eyes Restaurant.
