Indoor Entertainment Options Abound This Winter at the Delaware and Maryland Beaches

January 8, 2020

We remain in a lull these first few weeks of the year, at least in terms of annual events and happenings we can promote here in our regularly scheduled “Weekender Blog,” posted each Wednesday on thecoastalcompass.com.

But while this second weekend of January doesn’t include any big local events to talk about, what we can do is tell you about a few fun things happening during the winter months at and near the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

We featured our fantastic state park system last week, and today we’re going to discuss events this winter at several local theaters and indoor venues.

So don’t let the cold temperatures keep you inside. Old Man Winter may be in charge outdoors right now, but there’s still lots to do here in the coastal region.

That of course includes our eclectic restaurant scene, so get out there and enjoy your favorite local eateries while they’re a bit less crowded than they are during the spring and summer.

But this week, we’re focusing on indoor venues. So let’s get started…

Clear Space Theatre – Rehoboth Beach

Located on Baltimore Avenue, in the heart of Rehoboth Beach, Clear Space Theatre has been a leader in southern Delaware’s performing arts community since it’s founding in 2004.

The theater group is comprised of a professional acting company, an arts institute offering educational programs to area students and its “On Tour” group, which is offered in cooperation with local civic organizations.

The theater is located on Baltimore Avenue, just a short walk from the beach and Boardwalk, and can seat 250 people.

Shows coming up at Clear Space over the next few weeks include:

Clue on Stage. Running between Friday, January 24, and Sunday, February 9, this show is based on the movie, as well as the popular board game.

Join Colonel Mustard and the gang as they search for the murderer in Boddy Manor, and see if you can figure out who the culprit is before your friends do.

This comedy promises lots of twists and turns, as well as a surprise ending. So check it out this winter at Clear Space Theatre.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. Running for just two days on February 29 and March 1, this show is being held as a benefit fundraiser for the theater, as well as for the Children’s Beach House.

The show concerns a 15-year-old boy who’s found next to a dead dog, and becomes one of the chief suspects in the canine’s murder. He transforms into an amateur sleuth and ends up embarking on a dangerous journey that turns his world upside down.

Learn more about both of these shows or purchase tickets by calling 302-227-2270 or visiting www.clearspacetheatre.org.
