Mindfulness Matters - Grief & Trauma Support

June 16, 2020

Sussex County Health Coalition is offering a four-part mindfulness matters webinar series focusing on social and emotional wellness. The series began June 10 with a presentation about Social and Emotional Wellness by Carolyn Showell, LCSW; Showell is the owner of Renew Your Heart and Mind, a mind-body holistic center operating in Millsboro and Seaford.

JFS Delaware is grateful for the opportunity to participate in this series as well. On Wednesday, June 17th from 12-1PM, JFS therapist Nina Licht, LPCMH, CAADC, will be facilitating a webinar about “Grief & Trauma Support for Our Community.” Grief is the expression of loss; everyone experiences loss, but not everyone's experience of loss is the same. The webinar will discuss loss and how it is expressed through grief, allowing participants the chance to share and discuss how to help themselves and others.

Licht is a licensed professional counselor of mental health with 15 years of experience in the field. Her approach begins with cognitive behavioral, problem-solving and mindfulness approaches but is person-centered in that she tailors the treatment to the presenting needs of each person. Licht believes that healing and growth response is best when the process is a collaborative effort to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment.

Additional webinars in the series will include:

  • Fitting in Yoga: Why Service Providers Should Practice Yoga
presented by Erin Shiovone of CAMP Rehoboth and Lanikai Wellness Studio
    Wednesday, June 24th from 12-1PM
  • Emotional Wellness
presented by Karen Johnston of GEM
    Wednesday, July 1 from 12-1PM
