New Drive-In Theater, Home Expo, Fireworks Shows Coming This Weekend to the Coastal Region

June 17, 2020

We’re several weeks now into the Summer of 2020 and we hope everyone is making the most of their time in the beautiful coastal regions of Delaware and Maryland.

We’re very blessed to live in an area that’s bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and features so many incredible natural wonders. And restrictions or no restrictions, those places are always going to be here for our enjoyment.

As far as local events and happenings go, we’re got some great things to tell you about this week. So if you’re looking for something fun to do over the next few days, keep reading below for a half dozen fun and family friendly options.

From a brand new way to watch your favorite films to a fun online contest by the local gem that is Funland, there are many choices this week for having a good time at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

And don’t forget the beach itself, as well as the boardwalk. Just remember to follow appropriate guidelines and adhere to social distancing requirements.

Okay, let’s get into this week’s events blog. We begin with an exciting new activity for residents of and visitors to “The Nation’s Summer Capital” of Rehoboth Beach:

Lefty’s Drive In Theater (Beginning June 22). If you’re looking for something new and fun to do in the coastal region, Lefty’s Alley and Eats in Lewes has just the thing beginning next week.

Lefty’s outdoor cinema will premier on Monday, June 22, with a showing of “Rocky,” and continue showing classic movies every evening for the rest of the summer.

The indoor facilities also reopen on the same date, meaning snacks and drinks will be available as well as indoor restrooms and newly installed sanitizing stations.

Tickets are $25 per vehicle with a maximum of six people and movies begin promptly at 9 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.iloveleftys.com.

The outdoor cinema is currently restricted to 31 vehicles due to social distancing requirements, but will double to 62 once those restrictions are lifted.

Outdoor Spring Home Expo, Farmer’s Market and Craft Show (June 20-21). This event has been rebranded from the usual Spring Home Expo, due to current restrictions that are in place in the coastal region.

This 23rd annual event may be a little different this year, but organizers are still expecting a successful event at the Hudson Fields complex, located just north of Lewes on Route 1.

This is a free event and will be open to the public on Saturday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday, June 21, from 12 to 4 p.m. Parking is also free.

Exhibitors include real estate agents, developers, builders, mortgage consultants and more, in addition to the farmer’s market and on-site craft show.

Ocean City Beach Fireworks (June 18). This will be the first Thursday evening fireworks show of the season, which will continue at 10:30 p.m., every Thursday through Labor Day Weekend.

Fireworks are centered on Talbot Street at the beach, but can be seen through a good portion of the resort. Organizers stress that all visitors must adhere to state guidelines and practice social distancing.

Fireworks shows are also held during the season at Northside Park. Call 410-289-2800 for more information on this year’s fireworks events in Ocean City.
