Rehoboth Beach Film Festival, Ocean City Boat Show Scheduled for this Weekend in the Coastal Region

February 12, 2020

It may not always seem like it, but we’re inching closer and closer to the first day of Spring at the Delaware and Maryland beaches. The days are becoming a bit longer and soon we’ll be basking in the warm weather and once again enjoying all of the fabulous things that life in the coastal region has to offer.

But before we get there, we still have some great local events coming up on the journey to Memorial Day 2020. We’re excited to tell you about a handful of them today in our latest “Weekender Blog,” brought to you each week by the real estate professionals at the Oldfather Group of Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty.

But we also realize that this Friday is Valentine’s Day, a special date on the calendar for many. We haven’t included any Valentine’s Day events in today’s blog, and that’s because we posted a comprehensive entry on the subject just last week.

If you missed it, here’s the link…

How to Have a Memorable Valentine’s Day at the Coast

So whether it’s Valentine’s Day, one of our featured events below or something else entirely, we encourage you to get outside and enjoy yourselves this February at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

Here’s what we’re featuring this week:

African-American Film Festival (February 14-16). The third annual African-American Film Festival will be held from Friday to Sunday this week at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes.

Four films will be shown this year by the Rehoboth Beach Film Society, in partnership with the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice. These include “Black Ballerina,” “Una Great Movie,” “Always in Season” and “1 Angry Black Man.”

The mission of this now annual event, according to organizers, is “to deepen awareness of African-American cultures and experiences, and to explore community differences and commonalities through the art of film.”

Admission to the feature films this year is $10, with show times on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Seaside Boat Show (February 14-16). The 2020 Seaside Boat Show is scheduled for this weekend in Ocean City, held at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center on Coastal Highway.

This year’s event will feature more than 140 exhibitors and approximately 350 boats, including performance boats, sport cruisers, sportfish boats and many more.

Hours for this year’s Seaside Boat Show are Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for the day or $15 for a weekend pass.
