Rehoboth Fireworks, Running of the Bull and More Over the Next Few Days at the Delaware and Maryland Beaches

June 26, 2019

It’s hard to believe, but we’re already talking about Fourth of July activities here at the Delaware and Maryland beaches. And there are definitely some fantastic things on tap over the next few days along the coast.

But first, a heads up on the next couple of activities blogs that we’ll be distributing to you. As the Rehoboth Beach fireworks extravaganza is being held on Wednesday, July 3, we’re including that in this week’s featured writeup as next week would be too late to allow for proper planning.

But the shows that are planned for Thursday, July 4, and there are many, will be featured in next week’s “Weekender Blog,” which will be posted and distributed on Wednesday, July 3.

Okay, now that we have that little bit of housekeeping out of the way, let’s get right to all of the fun things that are coming up over the next few days here in the coastal region.

We begin in Dewey Beach with a wild and wacky tradition that must be seen in person to be fully appreciated.

Running of the Bull (June 29). Join the always fun-loving folks in Dewey Beach this Saturday, June 29, for the 2019 edition of the wild and wacky “Running of the Bull” event, again sponsored by the Starboard Restaurant and Bar.

With many attendees dressed in the traditional white and red clothing you often see “runners” wearing during the real running of the bulls in Italy, this event kicks off at 2 p.m. and includes a run on the beach and plenty of good natured fun.

Pre-run festivities begin around 11 a.m. at the Starboard, which includes cold beverages, loud music and basically everyone just working themselves into a frenzy prior to the big event at 2:00.

Stars and Stripes with Fireworks (June 29). The area’s first fireworks show of the Independence Day holiday for 2019 takes place this Saturday at Cupola Park in Millsboro, from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

The park is located at the headwaters of the Indian River Bay, and this local event will include food and non-food vendors, family friendly music and good fellowship. The fireworks are planned to go off at dusk.

Organizers invite everyone to bring their own blankets and/or chairs and enjoy a good time in the park this Saturday night.

Rehoboth Beach Fireworks (July 3). The fireworks in Millsboro may be the first of the holiday season, but the ones the following Wednesday, July 3, in Rehoboth Beach are definitely the biggest.

If you love Independence Day and memorable fireworks displays, then you’re going to want to be in the vicinity of the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk next Wednesday. The 2019 fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m., and will again be launched from the beach south of Rehoboth Avenue.

Live entertainment is scheduled for the Bandstand both before and after the show, so be sure to check out the schedule for that as well.
