Seven More Fall Festivals Planned for this Weekend at the Beaches; Jazz Festivals, Bark on the Boards Highlight

October 16, 2019

It’s a great time of the year to be in Delaware and Maryland’s coastal region, with several more incredible events planned for the next few days at the beaches.

Rehoboth Beach takes the spotlight this week, with two annual jazz festivals taking place throughout the resort, as well as chances to party with your dogs on Saturday and with your neighbors on Baltimore Avenue this Sunday afternoon.

But the next few days also mark the beginning of a Halloween themed two-weekend event in Ocean City, a zombie themed event in Dewey Beach and much more.

It’s still fall festival weekend at the Delaware and Maryland beaches, with the Sea Witch Halloween & Fiddler’s Festival also on the horizon, so get out and have some fun before the weather turns colder for the year.

Here’s what we have for the weekend of October 18-20 in the coastal region. We begin in Rehoboth Beach:

Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival (October 17-20). The “Nation’s Summer Capital” will be filled this weekend with the smooth sounds and easy listening of some of the area’s finest jazz music. This year’s performers include Boney James, Will Downing, Peter White, The Four Freshmen, Norman Brown and many more.

The Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival is held over four days and at various locations throughout Rehoboth and Dewey Beach, including Cape Henlopen High School, the Rusty Rudder, the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center and Epworth United Methodist Church.

This popular annual event always brings record crowds to coastal Delaware, with many nationally known jazz musicians, as well as countless local favorites, taking the stage each year.

True Blue Jazz Festival (October 16-20). Adding to the jazz-filled ambience this weekend will be the 7th annual True Blue Jazz Festival, also taking place in downtown Rehoboth Beach.

Centered at the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel, the True Blue Jazz Festival features everything from local and regional musicians, all the way to nationally and internationally recognized performers. Other performances are also scheduled for the Rehoboth Beach Firehouse and for Bethany Blues on Route 1.

The event kicks off on Wednesday night with a “True Blue Youth Jazz Appreciation Night,” beginning at 6 p.m. and continuing all the way through Sunday, October 20.

Artists for 2019 include Kat Edmonson, the Bill Charlap Trio, the Fred Hughes Trio and many more, as well as special events throughout the weekend.

Bark on the Boards (October 19). Grab the pooch and head to the beach this weekend for the 2019 Bark on the Boards block party, scheduled for Saturday, October 19, in downtown Rehoboth Beach.

This year’s event includes a wide selection of activities, planned with you and your four-legged friend in mind. These include a chance to do yoga with your puppy, an opportunity to visit a pet psychic, a “Dock Dogs Diving Competition,” a pet costume contest, a 1K walk and much more.

This year’s Bark on the Boards is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in downtown Rehoboth Beach near the bandstand.
