SoDel Fest, Brews by the Bay Highlight Last Weekend of September at the Beaches

September 26, 2018

Southern Delaware's jam-packed fall festival season continues this weekend, with five more great events gracing the calendar.

We've definitely got a little bit of something for everyone this weekend. So if you have pets, or you feel like some great local food or brews, or even if you're of retirement age and looking for something fun to do with your peers, we've got you covered with a quintet of great events planned for the next few days here in the coastal region.

It promises to be yet another great fall weekend here at the Delaware beaches. So keep reading, because here are our top choices for fun and exciting things to do during this last weekend of September:

Dewey's Golden Jubilee (Sept. 28-30). Approximately 200 Golden Retrievers and their owners are expected this weekend for the second of two annual “Golden” weekends in Dewey Beach.

Frequently cited as one of the most dog-friendly beaches in America, Dewey Beach will again be party central this weekend, with several fun activities planned over the course of the three-day weekend event.

SoDelFest (Sept. 28-29). This celebration of wine, food and music will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 12 to 4 p.m., at Independence Hall in Millsboro.

Two teams of top area chefs will compete this year at the fourth annual event, with the Rehoboth Beach team captained by Blue Moon Executive Chef Lion Gardner and the Lewes team headed by Heirloom Executive Chef Matt Kern.

There will be several judges for the 2018 event, while "Coastal Cuisine" Executive Producer Michael Sprouse will be the master of ceremonies.

In addition to the main festival on Saturday, SoDel Fest will hold “A Taste of Tuscany,” a six-course wine dinner, on Friday, Sept. 28, at The Clubhouse at Baywood Greens in Millsboro.

Brews by the Bay (Sept. 29).  Back again for 2018, this year's "Brews by the Bay" event will be held at Delaware Seashore State Park, specifically at the on-site campground.

Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, from 12 to 4 p.m., the festival will feature music by Wilmington Reggae favorites Brixton Saint, as well as a cornhole tournament, plenty of food and, of course, an abundance of drink samples.

More than 50 unique beers in total will be available, from breweries located throughout the First State.
