When circumstances beyond their control forced the postponement of two movies, Friends of the Lewes Canalfront Park with the support of Citizen's Bank, made lemonade out of lemons to present Sunday Cinema by the Canal. Free movies will be shown at dusk the final two Sundays in August in beautiful Lewes Canalfront Park, located at 211 Front Street in Historic Lewes.

On Sunday August 18 the classic Ferris Bueller's Day off will be presented. High school student Ferris Bueller, played by Matthew Broderick in his break-out role, wants a day off from school and he's developed an incredibly sophisticated plan to pull it off. He talks his friend Cameron into taking his father's prized Ferrari and with his girlfriend head into Chicago for the day. They go on a raucous journey through the city as they try to stay one step ahead of their principal and Ferris' sister.

On Sunday August 25 a great family-friendly film, Incredibles 2, is being shown. The Incredibles hero family takes on a new mission, which involves a change in family roles: Mr. Incredible must manage the house while his wife Elastigirl goes out to make superheros legal again. But when a dangerous new threat arises, it is up to the entire family to neutralize the threat and save the day once again.

The movies are free and the community is invited to enjoy a summer evening in the park.

Bring your blanket or lawn chair and maybe a picnic supper for family entertainment on the banks of the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal.

Thursday evenings through the end of August are also scheduled with a concert and even a play in Lewes Canalfront Park. On August 22 at 6:30 pm the Rehoboth Summer Children's Theatre preforms the Wizard of Oz (rain date Friday August 23 at 11 am) and on August 29 a Concert by the Canal is set with area favorite, Indian River, formerly the Clifford Keith Band, at 7 pm. These events are also free. For information go to www.lewescanalfrontpark.org or the park's Facebook page. Information/weather hotline is 302-645-2795.
