Weekend Before Valentine’s Day Features Kid’s Event in Berlin, Family Fun at Trap Pond State Park, Much More…

February 6, 2019

Between the frigid Polar Vortex and the unseasonably warm temperatures that followed, it can be a little difficult right now determining what time of year it is in the coastal region. Without looking at a calendar, that is.

But rest assured that it’s still early February and the middle of winter, despite the confusion Mother Nature has been trying to create.

We do have some fun events to tell you about this week in our “Weekender Blog,” however, and we encourage everyone to get outside and enjoy the offseason here in Delaware and Maryland’s coastal region.

Here are the Oldfather Group’s top choices for fun weekend activity in the coastal region, for the period of February 8-10:

Jazz Weekend in Bethany Beach (February 8-9). Head to the “quiet resort” of Bethany Beach this Friday and Saturday for two days of smooth jazz favorites at Bethany Beach Ocean Suites.

Scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, February 8, and 3 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, this event will not only include some great music from three talented jazz musicians/groups, but also food selections, cocktails and more.

Scheduled performers are “Notes on the Beach” on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m., Vincent Varrassi on Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 5th Avenue on Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m.

Beebe Health Fair (February 9). Scheduled for the Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, this one-day event is organized by Beebe Health Care and will have plenty of health-related demonstrations and information available for the general public.

Activities include health screenings, cooking demonstrations, educational materials, light refreshments and entertainment, as well as featured speakers.

The event is scheduled for this Saturday, February 9, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Visit www.beebehealthcare.org for more information.

Be Our Valentine Kid’s Event (February 9). The folks at Berlin Main Street will be sponsoring a special Valentine’s Day for area children on Saturday, February 9, at the town’s Visitor’s Center.

Scheduled for 12 to 3 p.m., children ages 3 to 10 can stop by the Center to decorate their Valentine’s Day bags and then walk downtown to collect treats from participating businesses.
