‘All Is True’ opens at Cinema Art Theater June 7

June 5, 2019

Starting Friday. June 7, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will take the viewer to a time in Shakespeare’s life in which little is known and much is disputed with Kenneth Branagh’s speculative and engrossing drama “All Is True.” Branagh stars as the Bard himself.

The year is 1613, and Shakespeare is acknowledged as the greatest writer of the age. But disaster strikes when his renowned Globe Theatre burns to the ground, and, devastated, Shakespeare returns to Stratford, where he must face a troubled past and a neglected family.

Haunted by the death of his only son Hamnet, he struggles to mend the broken relationships with his wife and daughters. In so doing, he is ruthlessly forced to examine his own failings as husband and father. His very personal search for the truth uncovers secrets and lies within a family at war.

Screening times are 4 and 7 p.m., Friday, June 7; 4 and 7 p.m., Saturday, June 8; 4 p.m., Sunday, June 9; 3 p.m., Monday, June 10; 4 and 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 12; and 4 and 7 p.m., Thursday June 13.)
