‘Beach Holidays’ launch party set Dec. 4

November 23, 2022

Cat & Mouse Press will host a party from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, to celebrate the launch of the newest Rehoboth Beach Reads book, “Beach Holidays,” in the large meeting room of the Lewes Public Library at 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.

“Beach Holidays” is a collection of 27 short stories featuring a variety of holidays large and small, and some invented. It includes tales about popular holidays such as Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as stories about lesser-known holidays such as National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day, DALD (Day After Labor Day) Day, Pi Day, and Stacy McGowen Day. Readers will find out that a wrong number can be a good thing, the Sea Witch isn’t the only apparition in Rehoboth around Halloween, and a Summer Valentine’s Day makes perfect sense.

The event is free, open to the public, and will feature book sales, author signings and refreshments. Other books by Cat & Mouse Press Press will be available for purchase, including its award-winning children’s books.

Stories in the book are winners of the 2022 Rehoboth Beach Reads Short Story Contest. A panel of six judges made the selections. Stories include: “Death by Chocolate” (Valentine’s Day), “It Was a Good Friday to Fly a Kite,” (Easter), “Fourth of July Fundango,” “Home for the Hallow Days” (one of three Halloween stories), “Labor (Day) of Love,” “The Hannukah Bush of Rehoboth,” and “Tidings Of Comfort and ... Lizards?!” (Christmas).

“Beach Holidays” is the 10th book in the popular, award-winning Rehoboth Beach Reads series. The books always feature a diverse array of stories by various authors, include many genres, and range from poignant to hilarious. In short, there’s something for everyone. Priced at $15.95, the books make ideal gifts and stocking stuffers.
