‘Damn Yankees’ to open at Clear Space Theatre March 10

March 8, 2023

Clear Space Theatre in Rehoboth Beach will present “Damn Yankees” from Friday to Sunday, March 10 to 12, 17 to 19, and 24 to 26.

Performances are at 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m., Sundays. For tickets, go to ClearSpaceTheatre.org or call 302-227-2270.

It’s a story about good versus evil, love and family, and the Washington Senators versus the NY Yankees. Joe Boyd is given the opportunity to return to his youth and beat the NY Yankees. In order to do this, he becomes Joe Hardy, played by Christopher Decker. Mr. Applegate is the man who makes it all happen. But he isn’t just any man. Played by Les Diggs, Applegate uses his devilish ways to try and trick Joe with the alluring Lola, played by Ariana Morales, a New York-based actor. Despite her tempting ways, Lola becomes an audience favorite when her true sweet and caring nature is displayed through her actions with Joe Hardy.

Decker returns to Clear Space to costume the show, and star as Joe Hardy. Having grown up in a baseball family, Decker was able to use his knowledge of the game in this performance.

“Damn Yankees” is directed by David Button, with musical direction by Jerry Birl. Wesley Cappiello, a cast member from 2017, returned to Clear Space from New York to choreograph the musical.

“Damn Yankees” is sponsored by Joyce and Fred Legge. Alice and Alfred Willis are the 2023 Clear Space Theatre Season Sponsors.
