‘Our Towns’ authors James and Deborah Fallows to speak Nov. 6

Wilmington event to be livestreamed free in Lewes, Laurel and Dover
November 1, 2019

James and Deborah Fallows, journalists and authors of “Our Towns: A 100,000-Mile Journey into the Heart of America,” will present the 2019 Delaware Community Foundation Building Opportunity keynote address Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington.

The event also will be livestreamed at Lewes Public Library, Laurel Public Library and the Paradee Center in Dover through partnerships with Sussex County Libraries and the Delaware Department of Human Resources. Hundreds of other Delawareans will attend the discussion of how to build opportunity in Delaware towns, inspired by ideas the Fallowses have gathered while visiting dozens of rebounding towns across America over the past five years.

Over the past several months, nearly 500 Delawareans all over the state have been reading and discussing “Our Towns” in foundation book circles. In partnership with Delaware Humanities, the foundation gave away hundreds of copies of the book, along with reading guides, to individuals and various libraries.

Tickets for the Wilmington event are $30. Registration is free to attend one of the three livestream locations. For more information, go to www.delcf.org/keynote.
