‘Saint Judy’ opens at Cinema Art Theater March 18

March 18, 2019

Starting Monday, March 18, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present the empowering drama “Saint Judy,” about a determined lawyer whose tireless efforts to save one of her clients ends up changing the country. If “RBG” was inspiring to make the world a better place, see this film.

“Saint Judy” tells the true story of Los Angeles immigration attorney Judy Wood, who single-handedly overturned the United States law of asylum and saved countless lives in the process.

In a landmark case - one of her first as an immigration lawyer - she represented an Afghan woman who fled her home country after being persecuted by the Taliban for opening a school for girls. After a ferocious battle both in and out of court, Judy's work culminated in arguments before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, where she fought to include women as a protected class.

Screening times are 1 and 4 p.m., Monday, March 18; 1 and 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 20; and 4 and 7 p.m., Thursday, March 21. Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater, starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.

The mission of the RBFS is promoting cinematic arts and providing education, cultural enrichment, and opportunities for engagement for our diverse communities and audiences.
