‘The Gin Game’ continues at Riverfront Theater Feb. 3-5

February 1, 2023

Second Street Players’ production of “The Gin Game” opened to rave reviews last weekend at the Riverfront Theater in Milford.

This fast-paced tragicomedy, written by D.L. Coburn, delivers on its promise to captivate adult audiences while serving up equal portions of hilarity and gut-wrenching angst.

Delaware stage veterans Steven Perry and Gina Shuck keep audience members on the edge of their seats while telling the touching story of Weller and Fonsia. The two lovable but scrappy senior citizens are unhappy with their placement in a rundown nursing home, and they reach out to each other for one last chance at happiness. They cheerfully engage in a rousing few games of gin, only to have things heat up in a most electrifying manner. Carrying the audience with them, they spiral out of control toward a stunning finale.
