‘Alice in Wonderland’ joins family theatre series

July 12, 2019

An amazing world of fantasy and fun takes the stage in July and August in the Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre production of “Alice in Wonderland.”

Audience members of all ages join the dreaming Alice as she follows the White Rabbit on a zany trail filled with hilarious twists and turns. Lewis Carroll’s familiar characters come to life: Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts and her deck of cards. Making surprise appearances are the White Knight from the chessboard and Humpty Dumpty!

As usual with Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre, all of this is accomplished with only two performers. Hallie Hargus and Alyssa Batsakis, this summer’s actors-in-residence, demonstrate their wide-ranging talents in the cleverly staged production. Alyssa plays Alice and Hallie plays everyone else! Children and grownups alike will be delighted by the fast-paced action, lightning-quick costume changes and lively sense of humor in this sparkling one-hour production.

“Alice in Wonderland” rotates on the Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre schedule with “The Jungle Book” and “The Wizard of Oz” through Thursday, Aug. 22, at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach.

Performances take place at 7 p.m., Tuesdays, and 11 a.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays. Tickets to all shows are $10. Children under 3 are admitted free.
