‘Aquarela’ opening at Cinema Art Theater Sept. 20

September 19, 2019

Starting Friday, Sept. 20, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Aquarela,” a film that takes audiences on a deeply cinematic journey through the transformative beauty and raw power of water. From massive waves to melting ice, filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky travels around the world to capture the stunning images portrayed in this film.

Water is the main protagonist, seen in all its great and terrible beauty. Mountains of ice move and break apart as if they had a life of their own. Kossakovsky's film travels the world, from the precarious frozen waters of Russia's Lake Baikal, to Miami in the throes of Hurricane Irma, to Venezuela's mighty Angel Falls, hence painting a portrait of this fluid life force in all its glorious forms. Fragile humans experience life and death, joy and despair in the face of its power.

Screening times are 4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20; 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21; 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 23; 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25; and 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26. Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
