“Roma” will open Friday, Jan. 18, at the  Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater in Lewes.

One of the finest films of 2018, the Golden Globe winner for Best Foreign Language Motion Picture, “Roma” is a remarkable autobiographical drama about the life of a young woman caring for a well-to-do family in 1970s Mexico. Director Alfonso Cuarón won the Golden Globe for Best Director for this film.

“Roma” follows Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio), a young domestic worker for a family in the neighborhood of Roma in Mexico City. Delivering an artful love letter to the women who raised him, Cuarón draws on his own childhood to create a vivid and emotional portrait of domestic strife and social hierarchy amidst the political turmoil of the 1970s.
