‘The Midnight Sky’ opens at Cinema Art Theater Dec. 18

December 16, 2020

Starting Friday, Dec. 18, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “The Midnight Sky,” a sci-fi drama directed by and starring George Clooney.

It’s 2049, something’s gone wrong. Far away, Earth is silent. Toxic clouds swirl around it in serpentine coils. Nothing seems to be alive below. This post-apocalyptic tale follows lone scientist Augustine (Clooney) who is living in the Arctic. He frantically races to contact astronaut Sully (played by Felicity Jones) and her crew aboard the NASA starship Aether from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe. As they emerge from a communications blackout they find that the discovery of a potential new home for human beings has been overshadowed by the death of the old one.

Screening times are 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18; 4 and 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19; 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 20; and 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23. Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online at rehobothfilm.com. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
